Lester Ryan (hurler, born 1988)
Lester Ryan (born 1988) is an Irish hurler who played as a midfielder for the Kilkenny senior team. He is best known for captaining Kilkenny to All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship success in 2014, having defeated Tipperary in a thrilling replay.
Ryan began his inter-county career with the Kilkenny minor and under-21 teams, winning All-Ireland titles at both levels. He made his senior debut in 2011 and quickly established himself as a key player.
Throughout his career, Ryan won numerous accolades including Leinster Senior Hurling Championships, National Hurling Leagues, and an All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship as captain. He was known for his work rate, athleticism, and leadership qualities on the field.
Ryan announced his retirement from inter-county hurling in 2017. He continues to play club hurling with Clara in Kilkenny.
