Landon Turner (basketball)

Landon Turner (born November 15, 1960, in Indianapolis, Indiana) is a former American college basketball player. A 6'10" center, Turner was a standout player for the Indiana Hoosiers under coach Bob Knight, contributing to the team's 1981 NCAA Championship victory.

Turner was known for his size, strength, and rebounding ability. He provided a strong inside presence for the Hoosiers, complementing the scoring of teammates such as Isiah Thomas. Turner's contributions were essential to Indiana's success during his time with the program.

Tragically, Turner's promising basketball career was cut short by a car accident in April 1981, just weeks after the national championship. The accident left him paralyzed from the chest down. Despite this devastating injury, Turner remained an inspiration, earning a degree from Indiana University and becoming a motivational speaker. He has worked tirelessly to advocate for disability awareness and has received numerous awards for his community service. His story is one of resilience and determination in the face of adversity.
