Lamb (island)

Lamb is a small, uninhabited island located in the Firth of Forth, east of Edinburgh, Scotland. It is situated between the islands of Fidra and Craigleith.

Geography and Geology

Lamb is primarily basalt rock, a volcanic igneous rock formed from cooled lava. Its surface is largely barren and rocky, with limited vegetation. The island is relatively low-lying, reaching a maximum elevation of approximately 20 meters (66 feet) above sea level. Its shape is somewhat elongated, running roughly east to west.

Ownership and History

Lamb is privately owned. The island was acquired by magician Uri Geller in 2009. Geller has stated his interest in the island is related to alleged energy fields and connections to ancient Egypt, including speculation about possible connections to Tutankhamun. Prior to Geller's ownership, the island was part of the Marquess of Bute's estate. There is limited documented history of significant human habitation or usage of Lamb.

Wildlife

While sparsely vegetated, Lamb serves as a nesting site for various seabirds, particularly gulls. Its relative isolation provides a safe haven for breeding. The surrounding waters support a variety of marine life typical of the Firth of Forth.

Access

Due to its small size and private ownership, access to Lamb is restricted. Landing requires permission from the owner.
