Kyle Abbott (cricketer)
Kyle Abbott is a South African cricketer. A right-arm fast-medium bowler and right-handed batsman, Abbott has represented South Africa in both Test and One Day International (ODI) cricket.
Abbott made his first-class debut in 2009 and quickly established himself as a consistent performer in South African domestic cricket. His performances led to a call-up to the South African national team, and he made his Test debut in 2013.
Known for his accuracy and ability to move the ball both ways, Abbott has proven to be a valuable asset to whichever team he plays for. He has also played county cricket in England.
In January 2017, Abbott controversially signed a Kolpak deal with Hampshire, meaning he was no longer eligible to play for South Africa. The move sparked debate regarding the impact of Kolpak deals on South African cricket. He has since completed his Kolpak contract and returned to play cricket in South Africa. He plays for the KwaZulu-Natal Dolphins and has again represented South Africa.
