Kurash

Kurash is a traditional martial art that originated in Uzbekistan. It is a wrestling style where competitors aim to throw their opponents to the ground. The name "Kurash" translates to "reaching the goal by fair means."

Competitors wear traditional jackets, and grips are specific, generally focusing on holding the jacket collar and belt. Kicking, striking, and grappling on the ground are prohibited.

Kurash gained significant international recognition when it was officially included as a medal sport in the 2018 Asian Games held in Indonesia. The International Kurash Association (IKA) governs the sport globally and promotes its development and standardization worldwide. IKA organizes world championships, continental tournaments, and provides training and certification programs for referees and coaches.
