Kretshnif (Hasidic dynasty)
Kretshnif is a Hasidic dynasty originating from the town of Kretshnif (Krasna), located in present-day Ukraine. It is an offshoot of the Nadvorna dynasty. The dynasty was founded by Rabbi Meir Rosenbaum (1852-1908), a son of Rabbi Mordechai of Nadvorna.
After Rabbi Meir's death, the dynasty was continued by his sons. The most prominent of these was Rabbi Yisachar Ber Rosenbaum (d. 1981), who re-established the Kretshnif dynasty in Jerusalem after World War II. He survived the Holocaust and dedicated himself to rebuilding Jewish life.
The Kretshnif dynasty emphasizes fervent prayer, Torah study, and acts of kindness. They are known for their warm and welcoming approach to all Jews.
Today, the Kretshnif dynasty has communities in Jerusalem, Bnei Brak, and other locations. The current Rebbe of Kretshnif resides in Jerusalem. The dynasty continues to maintain strong ties to the Nadvorna dynasty and other related branches of Hasidism. The teachings and customs of the Kretshnif dynasty are preserved and transmitted through its leaders and followers, ensuring the continuation of this unique Hasidic tradition.
