Kochstraße (Berlin U-Bahn)
Kochstraße is a Berlin U-Bahn station located on the U6 line. It is situated in the district of Kreuzberg, near the intersection of Kochstraße and Friedrichstraße. The station was originally named "Kochstraße" upon its opening in 1923, but it was renamed "Zimmerstraße" in 1961, after the street running parallel to Kochstraße which was located along the Berlin Wall. After German reunification, the station was returned to its original name, Kochstraße, in 1991.
The station is known for its proximity to Checkpoint Charlie, the former border crossing between East and West Berlin. It serves as a convenient access point for tourists visiting the Checkpoint Charlie Museum and other related historical sites.
The station's architecture is typical of early 20th-century U-Bahn design, although it has undergone several renovations over the years. It features a central platform with entrances at both ends. The walls are tiled and feature signage indicating the station's name and direction of travel.
