Kleeer
Kleeer was an American funk and post-disco band formed in New York City in 1975. Initially named The Jam Band, they were renamed Kleeer in 1977, reportedly after their lead singer's mispronunciation of the word "clear." The band was active throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s, achieving several chart successes on both the R&B and dance charts. Their music is characterized by its strong basslines, complex rhythms, and a blend of funk, disco, and early electronic elements.
Kleeer was known for its innovative use of synthesizers and its emphasis on instrumental arrangements, setting them apart from many of their contemporaries. Some of their most notable hits include "Keep Your Body Workin'," "Winners," "Intimate Connection," and "Get Tough." The band's lineup changed over the years, but core members included Woody Cunningham, Norman Durham, and Paul Crutchfield. After their period of commercial success, the band eventually dissolved in the mid-1980s, though their music remains influential and is frequently sampled in contemporary hip-hop and electronic music.
