Kathy Taylor (politician)
Kathy Taylor (born October 6, 1954) is an American politician and businesswoman who served as the 38th Mayor of Tulsa, Oklahoma, from 2006 to 2009. She was the second female mayor in the city's history.
Prior to her election as mayor, Taylor had a successful career in the private sector, primarily in the energy industry. She worked for several energy companies, including serving as CEO of Laredo Energy VI.
As Mayor of Tulsa, Taylor focused on economic development, infrastructure improvements, and public safety. Her administration oversaw initiatives to revitalize downtown Tulsa and attract new businesses to the city. Key accomplishments included improvements to the city's water infrastructure and the implementation of a comprehensive plan for future development.
Taylor chose not to seek re-election in 2009. Following her time as mayor, she has remained involved in community and philanthropic activities. She has served on numerous boards and commissions, and continues to contribute to the city's growth and development. She is also involved in early childhood education initiatives.
