Kate Rich

Kate Rich (born 1974) is an Australian artist, designer, and researcher known for her long-term collaborative projects that explore the economies of everyday life. Her work often involves creating alternative infrastructures and systems, focusing on distribution, exchange, and value.

Rich co-founded Feral Trade, a micro-multinational grocery business distributing goods produced by its members. This ongoing project functions as both an art installation and a working trade network, exploring the potential of personal connections to create alternative economic models.

Another notable project is Cube-Cola, a DIY recipe and distribution system for producing an open-source alternative to Coca-Cola. This project examines the branding and global reach of multinational corporations, offering a locally customizable alternative.

Rich's work has been exhibited internationally and she has lectured extensively on topics related to alternative economics, design, and art. She is affiliated with institutions such as the University of Western Sydney and the Centre for Cultural Studies.
