Kashafrud
Kashafrud is a geographical region located in northeastern Iran, specifically in the province of Razavi Khorasan. It's primarily known as a river basin and valley formed by the Kashafrud River, which is a significant water source for the region, particularly the city of Mashhad.
The Kashafrud River originates in the Hezar Masjed Mountains and flows eastward towards the Tedzhen River in Turkmenistan. The valley surrounding the river is characterized by agricultural land and settlements that rely on its water for irrigation and sustenance. Historically, the Kashafrud valley has been a fertile and agriculturally important area.
Beyond its geographical significance, the Kashafrud region is also notable for archaeological discoveries. Paleolithic sites have been found in the Kashafrud valley, indicating early human presence and habitation in the area. These findings contribute to our understanding of the prehistoric settlement patterns in northeastern Iran and the wider region. Research and excavation in the Kashafrud area continue to provide insights into the early history of the Iranian plateau. The climate in Kashafrud is typically semi-arid.
