Kanata (electoral district)
Kanata is a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada. It was created in 2012 from parts of the former ridings of Nepean—Carleton, Ottawa West—Nepean, and Carleton—Mississippi Mills.
The riding is located in the western part of Ottawa, encompassing the suburban community of Kanata, as well as portions of Stittsville and rural areas to the south and west. The boundaries are generally defined by Highway 417 to the north, the city limits to the west and south, and areas around Hazeldean Road/Hope Side Road to the east.
Historically, the area encompassed by Kanata has been a battleground between the Liberal and Conservative parties. The redistribution that created the riding made it a more competitive district.
The current Member of Parliament for Kanata is Jenna Sudds, representing the Liberal Party of Canada.
The electoral district is officially known as "Kanata" in both English and French. Key industries within the riding include technology, given Kanata's significant concentration of tech companies, sometimes referred to as "Silicon Valley North".
