John Sutton (footballer)
John Sutton (born 27 December 1983) is an English former professional footballer. He played as a striker.
Sutton began his career with Tottenham Hotspur, though he did not make a first-team appearance for the club. He subsequently played for several clubs in the Football League and non-league, including: Swindon Town, Raith Rovers (on loan), Dundee (on loan), Shrewsbury Town, Wycombe Wanderers, Motherwell, St Mirren, Central Coast Mariners, Heart of Midlothian, Carlisle United, Whitehawk, Eastleigh, Havant & Waterlooville, Sutton United, and Welling United.
Sutton is best known for his spells at Motherwell and St Mirren in the Scottish Premier League. He was a key member of the St Mirren team that won the Scottish League Cup in 2013, scoring the opening goal in the final. He also enjoyed success with Motherwell, reaching the Scottish Cup Final in 2011.
His career was marked by a prolific goalscoring record at several clubs, and he developed a reputation as a hard-working and effective striker.
