John Richardson (bishop of Bedford)
John Richardson (born 1949) is a retired British Anglican bishop. He served as the Bishop of Bedford, a suffragan bishop in the Diocese of St Albans, from 1994 to 2009.
Richardson was educated at King Edward VI School, Southampton and St John's College, Cambridge. He trained for ordination at Westcott House, Cambridge.
He was ordained deacon in 1973 and priest in 1974. He served as a curate at St. Nicholas' Church, Earley, near Reading, from 1973 to 1977. He then served as Chaplain of St John's College, Cambridge, from 1977 to 1982. From 1982 to 1994 he was the Vicar of Brampton, Huntingdon.
In 1994, he was consecrated as Bishop of Bedford. During his time as Bishop of Bedford, he was actively involved in various aspects of the diocese, including pastoral care, church administration, and ecumenical relations. He also served on national bodies within the Church of England.
Richardson retired as Bishop of Bedford in 2009. Since his retirement, he has continued to be involved in ministry, assisting in parishes and offering pastoral support.
