John O'Brien (New Zealand politician)

John O'Brien (dates of birth and death needed, if known) was a New Zealand politician. He was a Member of Parliament for the West Coast electorate of Westland for the Labour Party from 1943 to 1946.

Details on his early life and career prior to entering Parliament are currently lacking. He contested the Westland electorate in the 1943 general election, defeating the incumbent James O'Dea of the National Party. O'Brien served one term in Parliament. He was defeated in the 1946 general election by fellow Labour candidate, Jim Kent.
