John Noel (1659–1718)
John Noel (1659–1718) was a British politician and landowner. He was a Member of Parliament for Rutland from 1685 to 1687 and again from 1689 to 1690. He served as High Sheriff of Rutland in 1684.
Noel was the son of Sir Andrew Noel, 2nd Baronet, of Brooke, and his wife Hon. Hester Noel, daughter of Baptist Noel, 2nd Viscount Campden. He inherited the baronetcy from his father in 1688, becoming the 3rd Baronet. He married Elizabeth Sherard, daughter of Bennet Sherard, 2nd Baron Sherard of Leitrim, and Elizabeth Christopher, in 1682. They had issue, including Sir Thomas Noel, 4th Baronet, who also served as a Member of Parliament for Rutland.
Noel's political career was relatively brief. He was a Tory and supported the Stuart monarchy. His parliamentary service was interrupted by the Glorious Revolution of 1688. He died in 1718.
