John Marquez (actor)

John Marquez (born 1970 or 1971) is a British actor, known primarily for his role as Police Constable Joe Penhale in the ITV comedy-drama series Doc Martin.

Marquez has an extensive stage and television career. His theatre credits include productions at the National Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company, and in the West End. Notable stage roles include appearances in plays such as Privates on Parade, The Taming of the Shrew, and The Captain of Köpenick.

In addition to Doc Martin, his television credits include appearances in EastEnders, Holby City, Death in Paradise, and Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators. He has also featured in radio dramas for the BBC.

Marquez is the son of actor Mem Ferda and has familial connections to other prominent actors, including his uncle, Robert Powell.
