Certified (David Banner album)

Certified is the fifth studio album by American rapper David Banner. It was released on September 20, 2005, by SRC Records and Universal Records. The album features guest appearances from Jagged Edge, Lil Wayne, Carl Thomas, Twista, Trick Daddy, and Marcus.

The album debuted at number six on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 105,000 copies in its first week. It spawned the singles "Play," featuring Lil Wayne, and "Touching," featuring Kandi Burruss.

Certified is notable for its Southern hip hop sound, incorporating elements of crunk and trap music. The album's lyrical content explores themes of Southern pride, materialism, and relationships. Critically, the album received mixed reviews, with some praising Banner's production and lyrical skills, while others criticized its reliance on familiar hip hop tropes. Despite the mixed reception, Certified became a commercial success, achieving gold certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
