John M. Berry (Minnesota politician)

John M. Berry (born c. 1842, died 1915) was an American jurist and politician who served as a justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court.

Berry was born in Pittsfield, New Hampshire. He served in the Union Army during the American Civil War, achieving the rank of lieutenant colonel. He moved to Faribault, Minnesota, in 1865 and was admitted to the bar there.

Berry served as a Republican member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1870 to 1873. In 1874, he was appointed to the Minnesota Supreme Court, filling a vacancy. He was subsequently elected to a full term and served on the court until his retirement in 1892.

Following his retirement from the bench, Berry resided in Minneapolis and continued to practice law. He was a prominent figure in legal circles in Minnesota and was known for his contributions to the development of Minnesota law.
