John Lancaster (bishop)

John Lancaster (died 1352) was a medieval Bishop of St Andrews.

Lancaster served as Archdeacon of the Teviotdale region within the Diocese of St Andrews prior to his elevation to the bishopric. He was elected Bishop of St Andrews on 25 February 1328, succeeding James Ben. He was consecrated sometime before 8 July 1329.

His episcopate was marked by continuing efforts to assert the rights and privileges of the church, especially in light of the ongoing Wars of Scottish Independence. He participated in diplomatic missions on behalf of Scotland. Records indicate he was involved in disputes over land and tithes with local landowners and monasteries.

John Lancaster died in 1352. He was succeeded by William Landels.
