John Blackburn (politician)

John Blackburn (born July 25, 1944) is an American politician from Pennsylvania. He served as a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives for Pennsylvania's 12th congressional district from 1993 to 1999.

Blackburn was born in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. He earned a B.A. from Washington & Jefferson College and a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Prior to his congressional service, he worked as an attorney and served as a member of the Pennsylvania State Senate from 1979 to 1992.

During his time in Congress, Blackburn served on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. He was known for his conservative stance on fiscal policy and social issues. He did not seek re-election in 1998.

After leaving Congress, Blackburn returned to practicing law. He has remained active in Republican politics in Pennsylvania.
