Jaspur

Jaspur (also sometimes spelled Kashipur) is a city and a municipal corporation in the Udham Singh Nagar district of the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is located in the Terai region, known for its fertile plains.

History:

Jaspur has historical significance dating back to ancient times. It is believed to have been part of the ancient kingdom of Kuru. The region later came under the rule of various empires and dynasties, including the Mauryas, the Kushans, the Guptas, and the Delhi Sultanate. In the 18th century, it fell under the control of the Rohilla Afghans. The city derives its name from Jaswant Singh, a Rajput chieftain who controlled the area.
