VMCJ-1

VMCJ-1 was a United States Marine Corps electronic warfare squadron. Formally designated Marine Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron 1, it was part of Marine Aircraft Group 14 (MAG-14) and the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (2nd MAW). The squadron's primary mission was to provide electronic warfare support to Marine Air-Ground Task Forces (MAGTFs). This support included electronic attack (EA), electronic support (ES), and electronic protection (EP).

VMCJ-1 operated the EA-6A Electric Intruder aircraft. These aircraft were equipped with sophisticated electronic jamming equipment used to disrupt enemy radar and communications. The squadron also collected electronic intelligence (ELINT) by identifying and locating enemy electronic emitters.

The squadron was initially activated in 1975. Its operational history included deployments to various locations around the world in support of U.S. Marine Corps and joint operations.

VMCJ-1 was decommissioned in 1992 as part of a reduction in force within the Marine Corps following the end of the Cold War. Its mission and capabilities were eventually absorbed into other electronic warfare assets within the Department of Defense.
