Jan Hals
Jan Hals (c. 1620 – 1669) was a Dutch Golden Age painter. He was the son of Frans Hals the Elder and his first wife Anneke Harmens.
Details of Jan Hals's life are sparse. He was likely born in Haarlem and trained by his father. His artistic style is similar to his father's, specializing in portraits and genre scenes. He is less well-known and documented than his father and brother, Frans Hals the Younger, which contributes to the difficulty in definitively attributing works to him. Determining his exact output remains an ongoing scholarly endeavor.
Jan Hals died in Haarlem in 1669.
