James baronets of Creshall (1682)

The James baronets of Creshall, in the County of Essex, was a title in the Baronetage of England. It was created on June 28, 1682, for John James, a member of parliament for Maldon and Reigate. The James family had been seated at Creshall (also spelled Chrishall) for several generations prior to the creation of the baronetcy. The title became extinct upon the death of the fourth Baronet, Sir John James, in 1741. Details regarding the lineage and activities of the individual baronets are limited, but the creation represented a mark of social and political standing for the family within Essex during the late 17th and early 18th centuries.
