James Mitchell (footballer, born 1880)

James Mitchell (born 1880, date and place of death unknown) was a Scottish footballer who played as a full-back.

Mitchell began his senior career with St Mirren, where he made a number of appearances in the Scottish League. He then moved south to England, joining Southern League side Brentford in 1903. He played for Brentford for two seasons before returning to Scotland.

His time with Brentford saw him feature regularly in the first team. Details of his career after his return to Scotland are limited, but it is believed he continued playing football at a lower level.
