Charles Townsend (British politician)
Charles Townsend (baptised 15 May 1769 – 17 May 1835) was a British politician.
Townsend was the son of James Townsend, who served as Lord Mayor of London. He was educated at Eton College (1783-1787) and St John's College, Cambridge.
He was a Member of Parliament (MP) for Calne from 1802 to 1806, Aylesbury from 1806 to 1818, and finally for Calne again from 1820 to 1826. In Parliament, he generally supported the Whig party.
He married Charlotte Bayntun, daughter of Sir Andrew Bayntun-Rolt, Bart., in 1793. They had several children.
