Jack Ross (footballer, born 1976)
Jack Ross (born 5 June 1976) is a Scottish professional football coach and former player.
Ross played as a defender, primarily at left-back. His playing career began at Dundee, where he progressed through the youth ranks before making his senior debut. He subsequently played for clubs including Forfar Athletic, Clyde, Hartlepool United, Falkirk, St Mirren and Hamilton Academical. He retired from playing in 2011.
Following his retirement, Ross transitioned into coaching. He began his managerial career at Alloa Athletic in 2015, leading them to Scottish League One. His success there earned him the managerial position at St Mirren in 2016, where he oversaw a successful promotion campaign to the Scottish Premiership in 2018.
Ross then managed Sunderland from 2018 to 2019, leading them to the EFL Trophy final and the League One play-off final, both of which they lost. He was appointed manager of Hibernian in November 2019 and led them to the Scottish Cup final in 2021, losing to St Johnstone. He was dismissed by Hibernian in December 2021.
In June 2022, Ross was appointed manager of Dundee United, but was dismissed in August 2022 after a series of heavy defeats. He then returned to manage St Mirren in December 2022 until he was relieved of his duties in September 2023.
