Indrayani

The Indrayani River is a river in the Pune district of Maharashtra, India. It originates in the Sahyadri mountains and flows eastwards, eventually joining the Bhima River.

Geography and Course: The river's source lies near Lonavala, specifically at Kurvande village. It flows through the talukas of Lonavala, Maval, and Khed in Pune district. The river is known for its scenic beauty and the numerous religious sites located along its banks, contributing to its cultural significance.

Religious Significance: Several important Hindu temples are situated on the banks of the Indrayani, making it a sacred river for devotees. Dehu and Alandi, prominent pilgrimage centers associated with Sant Tukaram and Sant Dnyaneshwar respectively, are located on its banks. The river is central to the religious practices and traditions associated with these saints.
