Il Male
Il Male (Italian for "The Evil" or "The Bad") is a satirical and subversive Italian comic magazine. It was first published in 1978 by Vanni Gandolfo and Pino Zac, acting as a successor to the politically charged and irreverent magazine Il Nuovo Male.
Known for its provocative and often offensive content, Il Male targeted political figures, religious institutions, and societal norms with biting humor and scathing caricatures. The magazine employed a visual style that blended cartooning, collage, and photomontage, often pushing the boundaries of taste.
Il Male featured contributions from numerous prominent Italian cartoonists, writers, and artists, becoming a platform for alternative voices and challenging the status quo. Despite its short lifespan, publishing only a limited number of issues, Il Male had a significant impact on Italian satire and influenced subsequent generations of artists and humorists. Its legacy lies in its uncompromising approach to political and social commentary, its willingness to court controversy, and its innovative visual style. The magazine ceased publication in 1982.
