Hyesan

Hyesan is a city in Ryanggang Province, North Korea. Located on the border with China, it faces the Chinese city of Changbai across the Yalu River (known as the Amnok River in Korean). Hyesan is the capital of Ryanggang Province and serves as an important center for trade and industry in the region.

The city has a population estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands, though precise figures are difficult to obtain due to the closed nature of North Korea. Key industries in Hyesan include timber processing, mining (particularly copper and other minerals), and manufacturing of basic goods.

Hyesan's strategic location on the Sino-North Korean border makes it a point of interest for observing cross-border activity, including trade and the movement of people.
