Huissen
Huissen is a town in the municipality of Lingewaard, located in the eastern part of the Netherlands, in the province of Gelderland. It lies on the southern bank of the Rhine River, approximately 10 kilometers east of Arnhem.
Historically, Huissen was a separate municipality until it merged with Bemmel and Gendt in 2001 to form the municipality of Lingewaard.
Huissen is known for its long history, dating back to Roman times. It received city rights in 1314. The town has a well-preserved historical center with several notable landmarks, including the Saint Gangulphus Church and remnants of its former city walls.
Historically, Huissen was known for its brick production, contributing significantly to the regional economy. Agriculture also played a vital role, with fruit cultivation being a prominent activity.
