Howler (band)

Howler was an American indie rock band formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 2010. The band consisted of Jordan Gatesmith (vocals, guitar), Ian Nygaard (guitar), Max Petrek (bass), and Brent Mayhew (drums).

Howler was known for its energetic live performances and a sound often described as a blend of garage rock, surf rock, and post-punk. They gained significant attention after releasing their self-titled EP in 2011 and subsequently signed with Rough Trade Records.

In 2012, Howler released their debut album, America Give Up, which received generally positive reviews and led to extensive touring both in the United States and internationally. The album explored themes of disillusionment and youthful rebellion.

Following America Give Up, the band experienced internal changes and shifts in their musical direction. They released their second and final album, World of Joy, in 2014. This album showcased a more polished and pop-influenced sound compared to their earlier work.

After the release of World of Joy, Howler gradually became inactive. Members pursued other musical projects, and the band ultimately dissolved. While relatively short-lived, Howler made a notable impact on the indie rock scene during their time together.
