Howard Miller (minister)

Howard Miller (1879-1972) was an American Presbyterian minister, theologian, and author. He is primarily known for his long tenure as the pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Lawrence, Kansas, from 1912 to 1952. During his time there, he became a prominent figure in the Presbyterian Church (USA), advocating for social justice issues and theological liberalism.

Miller received his education at Park College and McCormick Theological Seminary. He was ordained in 1908. Prior to his pastorate in Lawrence, he served churches in Nebraska and Missouri.

His ministry in Lawrence was marked by a commitment to community engagement. He was actively involved in addressing issues such as poverty, racial inequality, and war. He was a strong advocate for interfaith dialogue and cooperation.
