History: Originally built in 1911 by the Houston Belt and Terminal Railway, Union Station served as a central hub for passenger rail service in Houston. Several major railroads, including the Southern Pacific, Missouri Pacific, and Santa Fe, operated through the station, connecting Houston to destinations across the country. The station's architecture is characterized by its Beaux-Arts style. Passenger service gradually declined throughout the mid-20th century, leading to the station's eventual closure to regular passenger trains in 1974.

Renovation and Current Use: Following its closure, Union Station was renovated and repurposed. It reopened in 2004 as part of Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astros baseball team. The station's concourse was integrated into the ballpark, serving as a grand entrance and event space.
