Hoshina is a Japanese surname. It is most commonly associated with a branch of the Takeda clan and, later, a prominent cadet branch of the Tokugawa clan.

Hoshina Masayuki (保科 正之, 1611–1673): The son of Tokugawa Hidetada and half-brother of Tokugawa Iemitsu (the third shogun). He was adopted into the Hoshina clan and served as regent for his nephew, Tokugawa Ietsuna, the fourth shogun. He is considered a wise and influential figure in early Edo period politics and administration. He greatly contributed to the stability and prosperity of the Aizu Domain.
