Mhlangana

Mhlangana, in Zulu history, refers to a half-brother of Shaka, the famous Zulu king. Mhlangana played a key role in the assassination of Shaka in 1828. He conspired with another half-brother, Dingane, and Shaka's servant, Mbopha, to carry out the assassination at Dukuza. Mhlangana's motivations are complex but are generally attributed to a combination of factors including resentment towards Shaka's strict rule, ambition for power, and potential fear of Shaka's increasingly erratic behavior and unpredictable violence. Following Shaka's death, Dingane seized the Zulu throne, and Mhlangana's subsequent fate is less well-documented, but it is generally believed that he was also killed shortly thereafter by Dingane, who sought to consolidate his power and eliminate potential rivals. The assassination of Shaka and Mhlangana's involvement mark a significant turning point in Zulu history.
