Hidden Treasures (cereal)
Hidden Treasures was a Kellogg's breakfast cereal introduced in 1993 and discontinued in 1995, then revived in 2007 before being discontinued again. The cereal consisted of small, puffed wheat squares that resembled miniature, less-sweet Chex cereal. The key feature of Hidden Treasures was that some of the squares contained a sweet, flavored filling inside, either cherry, chocolate, or grape. Most of the squares were empty, creating a "treasure hunt" aspect to the eating experience.
The cereal was marketed primarily towards children, emphasizing the surprise element of discovering the filled squares. The commercials often depicted children searching for the hidden "treasures" within the bowl. The packaging featured a cartoon treasure chest and bright colors to appeal to its target audience.
Although only on the market for a short period, Hidden Treasures retains a nostalgic following among those who remember it from their childhood. Online petitions and social media groups have been created in the hopes of convincing Kellogg's to bring the cereal back to market once again. The unique combination of the plain, puffed wheat with the occasional burst of flavored filling made it a distinctive and memorable product.
