Heroes (Icehouse album)

Heroes is the fifth studio album by Australian rock band Icehouse, released in October 1987. The album was a conscious effort by Iva Davies to move away from the more synth-pop oriented sound of their previous albums towards a more guitar-driven rock sound.

The album was co-produced by David Lord, who had previously worked with Peter Gabriel. It features a mix of songs written by Iva Davies alone and co-writes with Bob Kretschmer. Key members of the band at the time included Iva Davies (vocals, guitar, keyboards, oboe), Bob Kretschmer (guitar), and Paul Wheeler (drums).

Notable tracks on the album include "Crazy", which was released as a single and achieved moderate success in Australia and internationally, and "Electric Blue", co-written with John Oates of Hall & Oates, which became a major hit. Other singles released from the album include "My Obsession" and "Paradise".

Heroes achieved platinum status in Australia and helped solidify Icehouse's reputation as a leading Australian rock act. It was supported by a tour, further showcasing the band's evolving sound. While not as commercially successful as some of their earlier albums, Heroes is considered a significant album in Icehouse's discography, marking a shift in their musical direction.
