Jackie Moore (singer)
Jackie Moore (born December 19, 1946, Jacksonville, Florida – died November 8, 2019, Clearwater, Florida) was an American soul and disco singer. She is best known for her 1970 R&B hit "Precious, Precious," which reached number 1 on the Billboard R&B chart and number 30 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Moore began her career singing gospel music. In the late 1960s, she transitioned to secular music, signing with Atlantic Records. "Precious, Precious" was her first major hit, establishing her as a prominent R&B vocalist.
Throughout the 1970s, Moore continued to release albums and singles, exploring different styles within soul, funk, and disco. Some of her other notable songs include "Time" (1973), "Sweet Charlie Babe" (1973), and "This Time Baby" (1979), a disco track that became a club hit.
Despite not consistently achieving the same level of chart success as "Precious, Precious," Moore remained active in the music industry for several decades. She continued to tour and perform, keeping her music alive for her fans. Her impact on soul and disco music is recognized, and "Precious, Precious" remains a staple on oldies radio stations.
