HMS Turbulent (1919)
HMS Turbulent was a T-class destroyer of the Royal Navy that served from 1919 until 1937. She was built by Swan Hunter & Wigham Richardson, Wallsend and launched on 18 December 1919.
Turbulent was commissioned into service shortly after the end of World War I. As a T-class destroyer, she was intended for fleet duties and anti-submarine warfare. Like many of her class, Turbulent's career in the interwar period was largely uneventful, consisting of fleet exercises, patrols, and deployments to various stations within the British Empire.
In the 1930s, Turbulent and ships of her class were becoming increasingly obsolete. With newer destroyer classes entering service, Turbulent was withdrawn from front-line duties. She was subsequently sold for scrap on 16 March 1937.
The name "Turbulent" was later re-used for a T-class submarine, HMS Turbulent (N98), launched in 1941, highlighting the Royal Navy's practice of maintaining certain names within its fleet.
