HMS Indefatigable (R10)

HMS Indefatigable (R10) was a Centaur-class light fleet carrier of the Royal Navy. Laid down in November 1942 during World War II, she was not launched until December 1944 and commissioned in May 1946, after the war's conclusion.

Indefatigable saw extensive service throughout the Cold War. Initially deployed with the Home Fleet, she later operated in the Mediterranean and Far East. She participated in numerous exercises and patrols, contributing to the Royal Navy's presence in these regions.

In the 1950s, Indefatigable underwent a major modernization refit which included the fitting of a angled flight deck, steam catapult, and mirror landing system. This allowed her to operate more modern jet aircraft.

Her active service continued into the 1960s, deploying on various duties including participating in patrols and exercises worldwide. Indefatigable was decommissioned in October 1968 and subsequently sold for scrap in 1972. Despite not seeing combat, HMS Indefatigable (R10) served as a valuable asset to the Royal Navy for over two decades during a period of significant geopolitical tension.
