HMS Gurkha (F122)
HMS Gurkha (F122) was a Tribal-class, or Type 81, frigate of the British Royal Navy. She was commissioned in 1963 and decommissioned in 1984. Gurkha was the third Royal Navy ship to bear the name, commemorating the Gurkha regiments of the British Indian Army and later the British Army.
The Type 81 frigates were designed as general purpose escorts, intended for a variety of roles including anti-submarine warfare and convoy protection. Gurkha, like her sister ships, saw service worldwide during her career, participating in various exercises and deployments.
Following her decommissioning, Gurkha was sold to Indonesia in 1985 and renamed KRI Wilhelmus Zakarias Yohannes (332). She served in the Indonesian Navy until her decommissioning in 2007.
