HMS Dulverton (M35)

HMS Dulverton (M35) was a Hunt-class mine countermeasures vessel of the Royal Navy. Specifically, she was a member of the second sub-group of the class. Built by Yarrow Shipbuilders of Scotstoun, Glasgow, she was launched on 27 March 1982 and commissioned on 30 October 1982.

HMS Dulverton saw extensive service in the Persian Gulf, including Operation Armilla during the Iran-Iraq War. She was involved in mine clearance operations following the conflict.

Decommissioned in 2004, HMS Dulverton was sold to Lithuania and renamed LNS Kursis (M54). She continues to serve in the Lithuanian Navy, contributing to NATO's mine countermeasures operations in the Baltic Sea. The Hunt-class, known for their GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) hulls, were specifically designed to reduce their magnetic signature and thus their vulnerability to magnetic mines. HMS Dulverton's service highlights the Royal Navy's commitment to mine warfare and its contribution to maritime security both during and after the Cold War.
