HMS Auckland (L61)

HMS Auckland (L61) was a Grimsby-class sloop of the Royal Navy. She was built by William Denny and Brothers, Dumbarton, Scotland, and launched on 19 June 1937. Auckland served primarily as a convoy escort during World War II.

She was sunk by German Junkers Ju 87 "Stuka" dive bombers on 24 June 1941 off Tobruk, Libya, while escorting convoy AN 4. The attack resulted in heavy casualties, and Auckland sank rapidly.
