A Very Potter Sequel (EP)
A Very Potter Sequel (often abbreviated AVPS) is a musical comedy created by StarKid Productions, a theatre group from the University of Michigan. It is the second installment in the Very Potter series, following A Very Potter Musical and preceding A Very Potter Senior Year. Released on July 22, 2010, A Very Potter Sequel acts as a comedic retelling of the events of the Harry Potter series, primarily focusing on the second, fourth, and seventh books.
Unlike A Very Potter Musical, which was primarily filmed on stage, A Very Potter Sequel was filmed on various locations, including the University of Michigan campus. It features original music and lyrics composed by Darren Criss, A.J. Holmes, and other members of StarKid Productions. The show is known for its meta-humor, character parodies, and musical numbers.
The plot revolves around Harry Potter’s return to Hogwarts after a disastrous summer. He learns of a prophecy regarding him and Lord Voldemort, who is now possessing the body of Professor Quirrell’s turban. Meanwhile, Ginny Weasley travels back in time with the help of a Time-Turner, attempting to prevent Voldemort’s rise to power.
Key cast members include Darren Criss as Harry Potter, Joey Richter as Ron Weasley, Bonnie Gruesen as Hermione Granger, and Joe Walker as Lord Voldemort/Quirrell. A Very Potter Sequel has gained a significant following online and continues to be a popular work among fans of StarKid Productions and the Harry Potter series.
