Grosso (footballer)
Fabio Grosso (born November 28, 1977) is an Italian professional football manager and former player. He is currently the manager of Lyon. As a player, he primarily played as a left-back.
Grosso began his professional career with Renato Curi and Chieti in the lower divisions of Italian football. He later played for Perugia, Palermo, Internazionale, Lyon, Juventus, and finished his career with Montreal Impact in Major League Soccer.
He is best known for his pivotal role in Italy's victory at the 2006 FIFA World Cup. He scored the decisive penalty in the round of 16 against Australia, the opening goal in the semi-final against Germany, and won the penalty that led to Italy's first goal in the final against France.
Following his playing career, Grosso transitioned into coaching. He has managed various youth and senior teams in Italy, including Juventus Primavera, Bari, Verona, Brescia, Sion, and Frosinone. He led Frosinone to the Serie B title in the 2022-23 season, earning them promotion to Serie A. In September 2023, he was appointed as the manager of Lyon.
