Goromonzi

Goromonzi is a district in Mashonaland East Province, Zimbabwe. It is located to the east of Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe.

The district is primarily a farming area, known for both commercial and communal agriculture. Crops grown include maize, tobacco, horticultural produce, and livestock.

Goromonzi is also the name of a small town within the district. The town serves as a service center for the surrounding farming communities and includes administrative offices, schools, and shops. The district is administered from this town.

The history of Goromonzi is tied to the pre-colonial and colonial history of Zimbabwe. The area was inhabited by indigenous peoples prior to colonization. During the colonial era, it was developed as a farming area, largely by European settlers. Following Zimbabwe's independence in 1980, land redistribution policies impacted the land ownership patterns in the district.

The district's population is predominantly Shona.
