Good Cop

This contrasts with the "bad cop," who takes a more aggressive, threatening, and confrontational approach.

The good cop's role is to build rapport with the subject, appearing to be on their side and offering understanding for their situation. They might express sympathy, downplay the seriousness of the situation, or suggest possible justifications for the subject's actions. The goal is to gain the subject's trust and encourage them to confess, cooperate, or provide information that they might otherwise withhold from a more adversarial interrogator.
