Glas V8

The Glas V8 was a luxury coupé produced by the German manufacturer Glas from 1966 to 1968. It was initially badged as the Glas 2600 V8 and later, after BMW took over Glas, as the BMW-Glas 3000 V8. The car represented Glas's attempt to enter the high-end automobile market.

The Glas V8 featured a stylish body designed by Pietro Frua, known for his work with Maserati. It was powered by a V8 engine designed by Hans Glas, initially displacing 2,580 cc and producing 150 hp. Later, the engine was enlarged to 2,982 cc, increasing the power output. The car also featured advanced technology for the time, including disc brakes and independent suspension.

Despite its advanced features and attractive design, the Glas V8 was not a commercial success. Glas was struggling financially, and the V8, being a relatively expensive and complex model, contributed to their difficulties. BMW acquired Glas in 1966, and production of the BMW-Glas 3000 V8 continued for a short period before being discontinued in 1968. Today, the Glas V8 is a rare and desirable classic car, valued for its unique design and historical significance.
